Water conservation and showering

I saw this great article today at the BuildingGreen.com web site about how bathroom manufacturers are going around efficiency laws in the United States by using the loophole of installing multiple showerheads.

The law only specifies the maximum amount of water that a single showerhead can put out, but doesn’t mention anything about installing multiple showerheads in a shower. So homebuilders and bathroom manufacturers are creating “luxury” showers with 10 or more showerheads.

If you are using gigantic amounts of water in your shower, you aren’t just wasting water. You are also wasting energy. It takes energy and costs money to keep that hot water heater in your house running. If you are using significantly more water in your shower, then you are also spending money on the gas or electricity to heat up all of that water.

I’m all for getting a great shower, and having a good showerhead. No one should be stuck with some dribbling showerhead that doesn’t work well. You don’t have to compromise to save water and energy in your shower. You can really have it all.

We sell some terrific showerheads at Clean Air Gardening that are extremely efficient and also give you an awesome shower at the same time.

Our Bodyspa handheld showerhead is great if you like a showerhead that you can take down and hold in your hand, which is great for washing kids and dogs! And then there’s the more traditional regular showerhead. Both of these models meet or exceed federal efficiency standards and give you a terrific shower at the same time. I haven’t found a better showerhead anywhere!
