Using Animal Manure Properly

by kswanson56 on July 3, 2007

Animal manure should be “hot” composted before use, both to keep it from “burning” plants and to kill off any weed seeds it contains. If properly prepared, hot compost piles will generate their own heat, reaching 140° F within a day and staying that hot for weeks. For more information on composting animal manure, see this website.
