Try an electric lawnmower

While not quite as eco-friendly as manual tools, electric lawn tools offer an excellent alternative to noisy, pollution-emitting gas-powered models. Take electric lawnmowers for instance. Although it’s true that electrical mowers do use some generated power, they tend to use a relatively small amount of it — and unlike a gas-powered mower, that energy isn’t always generated by burning irreplaceable fossil fuels. Even if it is, it’s produced by a power plant that follows strict emission control regulations that lawnmower manufacturers aren’t required to deal with.

Noise pollution is also minimized; like manual push mowers, electric lawnmowers tend to be peacefully quiet. The same can’t be said for gasoline powered lawnmowers, which, while certainly powerful, tend to make an awful racket. Aside from the noise, you have to deal with the stink of poorly burned fuel and an insane amount of air pollution. It’s been calculated that the average gas-burning mower generates as much pollution as 11 cars — and some older models produce far more. Add the fact that gas costs four dollars a gallon (and rising) these days, and you’ve got a great argument for investing in an electric lawn mower right away!
