Most people aren’t aware that olive oil is good for more than just cooking. It actually acts as a decent solvent, and as such is good for such tasks as removing paint from skin and hair.
It may not be as effective as turpentine or gasoline, but it’s far safer — not to mention the fact that it’s 100% natural and organic. If you rub it into your cutting board in the kitchen, it’ll prevent cracking and repel stains. You can also use it for many tasks that you might otherwise use petroleum-based lubricants for: protecting and cleaning stainless steel, loosening stuck metal zippers, de-squeaking hinges, and even protecting the working edges of garden tools to prevent rusting.
