The Easy Way to Handle Slimy Slugs

We’ve mentioned several methods of dealing with slugs and snails in the past, but they might not be feasible if you’re dealing only with the occasional slimer. If that’s the case, it’s easier to pick them off your plants by hand — but who wants to deal with the gross-out factor of hand-to-slug contact, even with gloves on?

If the very idea sends shivers down your spine, invest in a hemostat. That’s one of those long, scissor-handled tweezers that you sometimes see medical professionals use. Using your hemostat, you can pick the slugs off your plants with ease (this method also works well for caterpillars). You can find hemostats at medical supply houses and some large drugstores.

Or if you’d rather get rid of them in a non-gross way by trapping the little sluggers, try our Garden Slug Trap. It’s actually a pretty cool chemical free and environmentally friendly way to solve all your slug problems.
