Instead of paying a dollar or more for 16 ounces of bottled water, just attach a filtering system to your faucet or purchase a filtering water pitcher. You’ll start saving immediately, since most tap water costs less than a fifth of a cent per gallon. Plus, it’s been treated to remove harmful organisms and substances anyway. After running it through a filter, it can become sparkling clean — at least as clean as bottled water, if not more so. After all, you have no idea of the composition of the bottled water. Plus, if you use filtered tap water and a reusable water bottle, you don’t have to pay for the plastic packaging and transportation either, so you help the world a little bit that way.
