We’ve talked a little about coco fiber as one of our favorite gardening products. But we had to mention it again, because this stuff rocks! We used this as a soil amendment for strawberry container gardening to help retain water. And, we were so impressed!

Coco fiber growing medium is so versatile. Use it by itself, as a soil amendment, or as bedding for worm composting. Coco fiber can be used all alone as a growing medium in potted plants, seed starting, or for transplanting plants. Work it into soil with a ratio of 50:50 for a soil amendment to improve soil quality. It helps by retaining water in dry, or sandy soils, and aerating for root growth in soil with a lot of clay. See, you can use it for tons of different gardening projects.

So, really what do you have to know about this coco fiber? It’s the bomb.

It comes in coco fiber bricks or pucks, so it doesn’t take up a lot of space to store in your gardening shed. But if you are like us, you will be throwing it in everything, and storing it will be no concern!

It’s really simple to get it ready for use. Here’s how:

1. Place coco fiber brick in atleast a 3 gallon bucket.

2. Add 1 gallon warm water.

3. Wait about 20 minutes, if that.

And you’re done! One coco fiber brick makes about 2 – 2.5 gallons of growing medium.

Don’t miss this video demonstration, too, of preparing coco fiber. It’s really easy and cool to watch.
