A safe and completely organic way to keep ants from crawling around on your cabinets is to wipe down the surface with a mixture of vinegar and water. As far as your nose is concerned, the tart scent will quickly fade, but to ant it will remain strong, and they’ll stay away.

I tried this method and the little brown ants that were coming in marched right over it.
It’s not stopping them so am looking for something else.
I also tried this with little black ants and no result.
Oh well, so much for that tip!

I’ve used the orange guard on my own countertops, and it did a good job of repelling ants.
