The Indoor Kitchen composter is chugging away and turning all of my kitchen scraps into hassle free compost. Since the Bokashi composter is air-tight, I haven’t had any problems with odd smells or critters. Still, I halfway expect to find myself in an episode of the Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror.
What’s in my composter? (new items are marked in bold):
Some paper napkins
3 pumpkins worth of pumpkin goo
A pint of old cherries
2 pear pits
About 1/5 of the bag of Bokashi
2 corn cobs
The rinds of 5 oranges
3 Grapefruit husks
Additional vegetable scraps
A dozen tea bags
More Scrap paper from direct mail
The composter is about half full now, but I haven’t tried compressing it yet. As the kitchen scraps break down, it should naturally settle a bit.
Composter output:
About 1/4 cup of compost tea
No unpleasant smells.
