For those of us with limited gardening space, it makes sense to take as much advantage of the vertical component as possible. One way to do this is by installing hanging planters. The problem is, those planters can be hard to reach when it comes time to add water or fertilizer. Here’s a simple solution: instead of hooking the baskets to plain fasteners, hook them onto pulleys and secure them with lengths of rope. Then it’s a simple matter to lower them for watering and maintenance. If you use self watering planters, you won’t have to do that nearly as often.
