Did you know that many commercial perfumes are made almost entirely from petrochemicals? That’s right: chemicals distilled from the same stuff that goes into our cars. Even those perfumes advertising “natural fragrances” often use a petrochemical mix as a base. For some of us, the issue here is not just a waste of a non-renewable resource; petrochemicals can actually cause health problems when absorbed through the skin. To avoid both problems, you can experiment with creating your own perfumes, using almond oil as a base, scented with your favorite essential oils such as patchouli, musk, or lavender.
