Dry Cat Food as Fertilizer

If your kitty is as finicky an eater as most are, you’ve probably found yourself with the occasional bag of leftover dry cat food on your hands. Well, just because Fluffy turned her nose up at it doesn’t mean it’s useless. Dry cat food makes a great plant fertilizer. It’s high in organic materials, especially carbohydrates and proteins, and breaks down easily when wetted.

It’s best to keep it indoors, though; if you use it outside, it could be construed as an invitation for creatures small and great to come dine in your yard. You can scatter a handful at the base of a houseplant, or mix a few dozen pellets into the potting medium when you transplant.

If your cat is like ours and eats everything in sight, check out our selection of organic fertilizer.
