According to a recent report, fluffy toilet paper is definitely something you should avoid if you want to live green. Unfortunately, the soft multi-ply tissue we all know and love is usually bad for the environment, considering that it’s made from millions of trees cut down for no other reason. Worse, many of those trees are taken from virgin forests, usually in Latin America, using unsustainable clear-cutting logging methods.
While the very thought of using toilet paper made from recycled paper may make you shudder, it’s certainly a greener option than the fluffy stuff. And by the way, it’s not necessarily the horrible, scratchy mess you may think it is; in fact, it’s often hard to tell from the good stuff. Here’s a guide to what Greenpeace thinks are the greenest recycled paper products (including TP) on the planet.
